TESTIMONIALS

I'm grateful that history has been corrected, but more importantly, I'm happy and I thank God for two things that never sleep - JUSTICE AND VENDICATION. To the Townsell family - you fought when most would have forgot. You struggled when most would have given in. Thank you for hanging in there and allowing others like me to know your grandfather. I can now tell a story that will inspire and educate and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to echo the Mayor of Milwaukee when he said, "This is one of the best days of my life"

Thank you for all you have sacrificed.

I am so happy for you folks. Justice is finally served. I just now found out about this on Comcast internet. As a former military guy, I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry for the injustice done to all of the guys. May God be with all of you, and I pray that the healing process can begin now for the family. I commend the family for challenging the military to correct the injustice. The family has something to be very proud of, and I know Booker is just as proud of what you folks have done. May your entire family be blessed and know that our thoughts and prayers go out to you on this celebration day. I salute Private Booker Townsell

We were all a part of a great moment in history. I smiled, laughed and shed tears of joy and completion for the entire Townsell Family. My heart felt the aurora of this wonderfully humble man, Booker Townsell, who never knew he would touch the lives of so many....bringing them hope that all things through Christ can be accomplished, if you live a life that is pleasing to Him. Based on the various testimonies given on that day, I know that Mr. Townsell was a God fearing gentleman, because he instilled those biblical principles within his family. A legacy continues.

It meant a lot to me. I had heard stories from World War ll men for years. It was very spiritual for me. The daughter and family members who knew Booker and they knew what he was holding inside of himself. He took care of his family in spite of what the world thought about him. He lived a good life. I served in Korea from 1957to 1959 and the 452 medical reserve until about 1961. I thought about some of the men that died in the Korean War. I thought about my great uncle that fought and died in World War and was killed October 5, 1918. I also thought about my Uncle Isaac who fought in the World War ll. I remember how they were treated. I enjoyed meeting the authors Jack and Leslie Hamann.

Hello. God is good!!! Justice and Honor will always prevail with Him on your side... It should have been over turned decades ago with this injustice in Italy and here also at Port Chicago, Concord, and Ca. Your Grandfather and All the Heroes that went through this can be Proud of Your Love and Determination Always....God Bless You All,

Rick B.

This was one of the most profound functions I have had the opportunity to attend. I felt I was actually seeing history in the making. It was very emotional, and very well done. I am very happy I was able to attend. I found myself wanting to know every detail of the whole ordeal. May God continue to bless and Keep your family in his good graces.

I saw this link on the Comcast website and this is an absolute blessing. I'm thankful for the efforts of all involved in the righting of this wrong and the delayed honor bestowed upon your father and others. To God be the glory! Hope you are feeling much better. Love/hugs.

The lifting of a historical wrong made right. Vindication at long last for Pvt. Townsell! The love and respect of a family so beautifully expressed in the poem written and read by his nephew Ricky. A truly moving and uplifting experience that teaches us to always to seek what is right!

God bless PVT. Townsend, his family, and USA. I served my country during the Vietnam War. I was a lousy soldier and did time in the brig. But, this is the difference, unlike pvt. Townsend, I was eventually issued an honorable discharge. I did nothing to earn it. For too long many of us minorities have been ignored or simply dismissed as unimportant. I hope in pvt. Townsend's case the Army will at least change his discharge status to what he truly deserves. If not, he can have mine. He did more serving his country as a black soldier than I did as a Latino.

Respectfully, T. Pina,
